On 16–17 June 2025, MutConsult attended the Stakeholder Workshop on Energy Transition and Mineral Value Chains Development at the Abuja Continental Hotel, hosted by the World Bank and the Nigerian government. The workshop convened government officials, industry leaders, and development partners to discuss strategies for positioning Nigeria in the rapidly evolving global minerals market.

The event opened with remarks from Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, Permanent Secretary, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Mineral Development, Dele Alake. Highlighting the urgency of the discussions, he noted, “The context of this workshop could not be more urgent. As we know, around the world, demand for minerals such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, and graphite, alongside rare earth elements and other critical industries for energy transition technologies, is growing at an unprecedented pace.”

Over two days, participants explored how Nigeria can benefit from increasing global demand for critical minerals, develop energy transition value chains, and align the sector with international trends. Discussions emphasised collaboration across stakeholders, strategic planning, and sustainable approaches to resource management.
