As a Mineral Economist at MutConsult, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating the economic aspects of mineral and mining operations to drive responsible resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resource Assessment: Analyze and assess the economic viability of mineral deposits, considering factors such as ore grades, market prices, extraction costs, and market demand.
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on global and regional mineral markets to understand market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and their impact on mineral projects.
- Financial Modeling: Develop comprehensive financial models to evaluate the economic feasibility of mining projects, including cost estimation, revenue projections, and return on investment.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate various risks associated with mining operations, including geological, environmental, regulatory, and market risks, and propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Policy and Regulatory Analysis: Analyze government policies, regulations, and taxation related to the mining sector to assess their economic impact on mineral projects.
- Mineral Valuation: Evaluate mineral assets and mining companies for different purposes, such as mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, and investment analysis.
- Sustainability and Environmental Considerations: Assess the environmental and sustainability aspects of mining projects, including compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable practices, and their economic implications.
- Supply Chain Analysis: Analyze the entire mineral supply chain, from extraction to distribution, to identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and emerging technologies that may affect the mineral and mining sector’s economic landscape.
- Consultation: Provide economic advice and consulting services to mining companies, investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders in the mineral and mining industry.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mineral Economics, Mineral Resource Governance, Geology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in mineral economics, economic evaluation, or a related role within the mining and minerals sector.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, market analysis, and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of government policies, regulations, and taxation related to the mining sector.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management.
